Barstools
Repurposed end tables.
With a little creativity and a lot of perseverance, I added plinth style feet to these wooden end tables and created countertop barstools.
I cut a wooden closet rod into 1.5” pieces. Then I rounded the edges on the top and bottom of each piece with my orbital sander. Next, I stained each piece with Red Chestnut by Minwax. Then, I used counter sink bits to drill a hole in the center of each foot. Countersink bits are cool. In addition to creating a predrilled hole, they hollow out a spot in the wood for the screw head, so the screw will sit flush with the wood. After that, I lined up the feet, glued, and drilled them into place. Lastly, I added felt pads to the bottom of each foot. There are 32 feet on each barstool, so this was quite the undertaking!
I’m happy I kept going, because I love the results! We needed slim chairs, and I was having trouble shopping for a barstool that had a slim back and didn’t detract from the island. They’re a perfect fit for our space and allow the island to shine!
