Magic.
Step 1: Sand a stick to desired smoothness.
Step 2: Add handle by drawing vertical lines with a hot glue gun at the bottom of the stick.
Step 3: Add a twirly pattern with hot glue down to the tip of the wand.
Step 4: Paint.
